Saint Carlos Acutis
Carlos Acutis was a remarkable young man whose life and legacy continue to inspire many. Born on May 3, 1991, in London, England, to Italian parents, he moved to Milan, Italy, as a child. From an early age, Carlos exhibited a deep faith and a passion for technology. He was known for his strong commitment to the Catholic Church and his ability to blend his love for computers with his spirituality.
Carlos became particularly famous for his work in cataloging Eucharistic miracles from around the world. He created a website that documented these miracles, aiming to educate people about the importance of the Eucharist in the Catholic faith. His project highlighted his belief that faith and technology could coexist harmoniously.
Despite his numerous talents and interests, Carlos faced a significant challenge when he was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 15. He bore his suffering with grace and offered it up for the Pope and the Church. Carlos passed away on October 12, 2006, but his legacy did not end with his death. He was beatified by the Catholic Church on October 10, 2020, and is often referred to as the "millennial saint" due to his relatable life and modern approach to faith.
Carlos Acutis is remembered not only for his devotion to his faith but also for his ability to inspire young people to engage with spirituality in the digital age. His life serves as a testament to the power of faith and the impact one individual can have on the world.
Blessed Carlo Acutis will be canonized into sainthood by Pope Francis on Sunday, April 27, 2025. The ceremony will take place in St. Peter's Square in Rome during the Jubilee of Teenagers.
