Blessed Emilie Gamelin medal made in Italy.

Blessed Emilie Gamelin, known as Mere Gamelin, was a Canadian laywoman (and, eventually, a nun) who turned her home into a “House of Providence” to shelter the poor, the sick, and those outcast from society. She helped form the Sisters of Providence in Montreal and became the order’s Mother Superior. She is best known as the founder of the Sisters of Providence of Montreal. In 2001 she was beatified by Pope John Paul II. She is one of twelve Canadian Catholic Blesseds.
